What Is Computational Science
Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) is a rapidly developing field that brings together applied mathematics, computer science, and scientific or engineering applications. CSE focuses on developing numerical algorithms in a computing environment to simulate the behavior of the observed system or the physical phenomena. To understand phenomena and processes from science and engineering, we no longer need to depend only on theory and experiment, but can also use computations. By this way, the phenomena can be represented as a computer simulations to understand and examine the physical problem.
The high level of detail and realism in these simulations requires advanced skills in mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, construction of efficient algorithms, understanding of wide variety of computer architectures, software design and implementation, statistics and visualization of results. This program equips engineering, science, or mathematics graduates with the skills required for a successfulprofessional or academic career in CSE.
